Clouds and darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne"
(Psalm 97:2).
A contrast is here drawn between darkness and righteousness. Righteousness is a character word, defining thoughts and feelings and behavior. Therefore, the darkness here mentioned must also be a character word. The inspired writer says, in essence, "
